Cockroachlabs Multi-Region Cluster Deployment (Delivery)

   Create a CockroachDB Cloud account and provision a test cluster

   Sign up for CockroachDB Cloud to receive $400 in free credits, then provision a Basic plan cluster on AWS or GCP to verify multi-region support for select regions.

2. 02

   Configure IP allowlist access control

   In the cluster's Networking settings, add the client's IP ranges to the allowlist to restrict access and meet security requirements.

   Migrate the client's PostgreSQL schema and data using MOLT tools

   Use the MOLT (Migration of Legacy Transactions) tools to migrate the schema and data, then run validation tests to confirm SQL compatibility and data integrity.

   Enable automated failover and set up backup schedules

   In the cluster's Backup and Recovery settings, configure automated backups and enable failover policies to ensure high availability and zero data loss during regional failures.

5. 05

   Integrate vector search for AI features

   If the client requires AI capabilities, enable native vector search in the database and test integration with transactional data using the MCP support.

   Set up monitoring alerts and change data capture

   Configure monitoring alerts for cluster health and enable change data capture (CDC) to stream data changes to downstream systems for real-time analytics.

   Validate compliance policies and data residency

   For clients needing DORA or HIPAA compliance, upgrade to the Advanced plan and configure data residency rules to enforce multi-region compliance.

8. 08

   Hand off to the client with documentation and runbook

   Provide the client with a runbook covering cluster management, scaling, and troubleshooting, and schedule a review of usage to align with the retainer.
