Agency Audit

Fullstory captures real user sessions and behavioral data across web and mobile, then surfaces friction points through replays, heatmaps, and funnels. It integrates with Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, and Segment, making it viable for agencies serving ecommerce and SaaS clients who need conversion optimization retainers. The platform's StoryAI summaries and real-time personalization features (via Anywhere) justify recurring fees. However, all plans require custom quotes, so agencies cannot offer fixed-price tiers to clients without negotiating Fullstory's own enterprise terms first.

Platform Features

Core capabilities of Fullstory

Session Replay and Heatmaps

Captures and replays real user interactions (clicks, scrolls, form fills) alongside visual heatmaps showing where users click and scroll most. Agencies use this to diagnose checkout abandonment, form friction, and navigation confusion without guessing.

Funnel and Retention Analysis

Builds conversion funnels and retention cohorts from behavioral data to pinpoint where users drop off. Available in the Advanced plan and above, this is the core feature for ecommerce and SaaS retainers.

StoryAI Summaries

Automatically summarizes session replays and behavioral patterns using AI, reducing manual review time. Included in the Business plan, this accelerates root-cause analysis for client support teams.

Anywhere Data Activation

Sends behavioral segments and insights to Salesforce, HubSpot, Segment, and other tools in real time for personalization and marketing automation. Enables agencies to close the loop between analytics and client action.

Guides and Surveys

Delivers in-product messages, guides, and surveys triggered by user behavior. Agencies use this to reduce support volume, improve feature adoption, and gather qualitative feedback without leaving the product.

Multi-Organization Management

Allows agencies to manage multiple client accounts under one parent workspace with role-based access control. Available in the Enterprise plan, this is essential for white-label or multi-tenant retainer models.

Reality Check

Trade-offs & Gotchas

Fullstory's pricing is entirely custom and enterprise-only, with no published per-seat or per-session rates. Agencies cannot resell predictable monthly retainers without first securing their own volume discount from Fullstory, creating a dependency on vendor negotiation and unpredictable client acquisition costs.

Core concepts

The mental model you need to price and scope the work.

  1. Reconciliation Before AutomationConcept

Reconciliation Before Automation is a framework for agencies evaluating analytics and reporting platforms. It posits that the primary value of these tools is not dashboard aesthetics or automation speed, but the accuracy of the underlying data reconciliation. Agencies often adopt platforms to save time, yet if the platform's source coverage or data freshness produces numbers that don't match the client's internal records, the time saved is negated by credibility damage. For example, a client running display ads may see platform-reported ROAS that conflicts with backend order data, as noted in recent research. Agencies should benchmark their current reporting process, identify reconciliation gaps, and only then select a platform that demonstrably closes those gaps. The framework emphasizes that recovered capacity should be invested in analysis and proactive recommendations, not just faster report generation.

  2. Narrative Control RatioConcept

The Narrative Control Ratio measures how much of a reporting tool's output is shaped by the agency's own commentary versus raw platform data. In an era where clients increasingly question reported numbers, agencies that simply hand over dashboards lose the ability to frame performance. The ratio is the share of report content that is narrative, insight, or recommendation, divided by the share that is automated data visualization. A high ratio means the agency controls the story; a low ratio means the tool does. For example, a PPC report that shows a pipeline number finance will not accept is a liability, not a deliverable. Agencies should benchmark their current reporting process, then use recovered capacity for proactive analysis, not just dashboard access.

  3. Attribution Gap VisibilityConcept

Attribution Gap Visibility is a framework for assessing how accurately an agency's reporting reflects true client performance. The gap is the difference between what platforms claim (e.g., ROAS from ad networks) and what backend systems confirm (e.g., CRM revenue or order data). When this gap is hidden, agencies risk presenting misleading numbers that clients or finance teams eventually question, eroding trust and threatening retainers. The framework urges agencies to quantify this gap before adopting new reporting tools, because dashboards that merely repackage platform data can amplify inaccuracies. For example, a recent analysis found that 74% of small businesses run display ads, yet platform-reported ROAS often misleads due to attribution flaws. Agencies that proactively reconcile platform data with backend records can turn reporting into a strategic asset, using recovered time for analysis and recommendations rather than just dashboard delivery.

Very unpleasant company to deal with

Very unpleasant company to deal with. In particular their sales team use horrible tactics including undermining you, sending you nagging emails when you have made it clear you aren't interested. They are not transparent in the slightest bit and do not trust them at all.

Predatory sales tactics

We've been using FullStory for 9 months. Their sales team ignores questions and uses predatory tactics. I will retire the service. Shame as the product itself was need. We'D either pay £300 or £3,000 per month. 10x upgrade for 10% more sessions. Get real!

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about pricing, setup, implementation, and more

Fullstory captures real user interactions across web and mobile apps, then analyzes behavioral data to identify friction points and optimization opportunities. It provides session replays, heatmaps, funnels, and retention analysis. The platform integrates with Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, and Segment to activate insights for personalization and marketing automation.

Fullstory uses custom/enterprise pricing — rates are not published publicly; contact their team for a quote.

No verified white-label program exists. Client-facing surfaces display the Fullstory brand, so you cannot present a fully branded analytics dashboard to end clients. The Multi-Organization Management feature in the Enterprise plan supports multi-tenant account structures, but the Fullstory interface remains visible.

Yes. Fullstory integrates natively with both Salesforce and HubSpot via its Anywhere data activation feature, allowing behavioral segments and insights to sync in real time. It also integrates with Slack, Segment, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics, and Zapier for broader tech stack connectivity.

Initial setup typically takes 15-30 minutes per client account once the agency parent account is configured, including SDK installation and basic event tracking. Onboarding complexity increases if the client requires custom event schemas, multi-property tracking, or Anywhere integrations with Salesforce or HubSpot.

Fullstory is best suited for ecommerce agencies optimizing conversion funnels and checkout flows, SaaS companies analyzing feature adoption and user retention, and digital product teams reducing support volume via in-product guides. It is less relevant for content-heavy or marketing-only clients who do not need behavioral analytics or session replay.

Fullstory's compliance certifications are not documented in available materials. If your clients operate in regulated industries (healthcare, finance), contact Fullstory sales to confirm compliance support before committing to a retainer.

Yes. The Enterprise plan includes Multi-Organization Management, allowing agencies to manage multiple client workspaces under a single parent account with role-based access control. This is essential for multi-tenant retainer models, but requires an enterprise-level contract with Fullstory.
