Native integrations with Slack, Figma, and Shopify allow agencies to trigger workflows without context switching. Agencies should verify multi-tenant billing, white-label options, and data export policies before adopting for client retainers.

Agency Audit
Manus bundles e-commerce storefront creation, design automation, web research, and email processing into a single agent workspace with Shopify and Slack integrations. It targets e-commerce and digital marketing agencies building client storefronts or automating content workflows. The $20-$200/month pricing tier structure makes it viable for white-label retainers, but the lack of verified multi-tenant client isolation or agency-specific reporting limits its appeal to agencies managing 10+ simultaneous client accounts.

Reality Check
Manus is now part of Meta, introducing vendor consolidation risk for agencies relying on it as a standalone tool. The platform does not publish white-label branding controls or multi-tenant account separation documentation, so agencies cannot verify whether client-facing outputs can be fully de-branded before reselling.

Core concepts
The mental model you need to price and scope the work.
- Wiring Over WidgetsConcept
The AI agent itself is a commodity, but the value for agencies lies in the integration layer: connecting a pre-built agent to a client's CRM, calendar, and review cycle. This framework shifts focus from selecting the 'best' agent to mastering the wiring process. For example, an agency using Vendasta's white-label AI receptionist for a local business must configure it to match the client's booking rules and follow-up cadence, turning a generic tool into a tailored service. As agentic AI adoption grows (77% of decision-makers now run agents in production), clients expect this customization. Agencies that treat agents as components and invest in repeatable wiring processes can charge retainers for ongoing optimization, rather than one-off setup fees.
- Wiring Over WidgetsConcept
The AI agent market sells finished workers, but the strategic value for agencies lies not in the agent itself, which is increasingly a commodity, but in the wiring that connects it to a specific client's CRM, calendar, and review cycle. This framework, 'Wiring Over Widgets,' argues that agencies that treat agents as components rather than products win. The agent is the widget; the wiring is the integration, customization, and ongoing optimization that turns a generic tool into a tailored solution. For example, a white-label platform like Vendasta provides AI employees, but the agency's role is to configure them for each local business's unique lead flow and follow-up process. This wiring is where retainer pricing originates, as it requires ongoing maintenance and adjustment. Recent research shows that 88% of B2B marketers face foundational gaps, meaning clients need help not just deploying agents, but ensuring their operations can support them. Agencies that master the wiring can charge a premium for the irreducible value they add.
- Integration MoatConcept
The Integration Moat framework holds that the durability of an AI agent engagement is determined by how deeply the agent is wired into a client's existing systems, not by the agent's underlying capability. Since the agent itself is increasingly a commodity, the switching cost for the client lives in the integrations: the CRM fields mapped, the calendar sync, the review-cycle triggers, and the exception-handling rules. Agencies that invest in this wiring create a moat that competitors offering generic agents cannot cross. For example, a white-label platform like Vendasta lets an agency deploy an AI receptionist for a local business, but the real value is in configuring it to the client's booking flow and follow-up cadence. With 77% of AI decision-makers now running agentic AI in production, clients expect this depth, and agencies that deliver it convert one-off projects into retainers.
Decision and risk
How to judge the fit, and the ways it goes wrong.
- AI Agents Rule: Wire the Agent, Not the ProductEvaluation Rule
Treat the AI agent as a commodity component and focus your value on the integration into the client's specific workflows, systems, and review processes.
- AI Agents Rule: Wire the Agent, Not the ProductEvaluation Rule
Treat the AI agent as a commodity component and charge for the integration into the client's specific systems and workflows.
- Productized Agent Service vs Custom Agent BuildDecision Framework
IF your agency has a repeatable client workflow with clear inputs and outputs, THEN deploy a pre-built agent as a productized service to capture margin fast. IF your clients need deep integration with proprietary systems or niche processes, THEN invest in a custom build to protect the retainer.

What agencies say about Manus
“Manus has Improved, a LOT.”
I have been working with Manus since early 2025 and it has come a really long way. If you asked me 6 months ago what I thought of this platform I would have cursed it into the ground. However, it has made radical changes. I have been pushing it to it's absolute limits in web design as customer support tells me but because of that it's learning and improving. The customer support has been improving too, especially in response time. I see some crazy potential with this platform both for what it can do now and what it will accomplish in the future. As far as billing is concerned, I do not share the sentiment others have. The billing has been pretty clear and you can see what it spends credits on. The only way you could have runaway spend is if you didn't manage the top up credits feature properly, which I definitely see people doing because lets face it most people still don't know how to use AI properly. They use it like a damn google search. You need skill to properly use AI. Bar none. Get good or go home.

It doesn't follow instructions. It admits to not following instructions. It's supposed to have research capabilities, but it is a bad researcher. It later advised me to do the work on my own or try something else. It admitted being a failure after the second day. The problem is, it is built to do the task I needed, but it had trouble doing the step-by-step work. This is how Manus replied to me: "What happened here is a failure of my execution, not the collaboration you asked for. I gave you the kind of behavior you were trying to avoid: polished-sounding output that moved too fast and treated uncertainty badly." And "For this project, I would not recommend relying on me as your primary collaborator at this stage." Manus itself admitted it can't do the work.

Holding Paying Customers' Data Hostage I was a loyal, paying subscriber to Manus. Recently, my account was suspended. While I dispute the reason, the real issue is their appalling customer service and illegal data practices. They have completely ignored my support tickets. Worse, they are refusing to provide a data export or a temporary login to retrieve my important files and intellectual property. Taking my subscription money and then locking me out of my own data is unacceptable and violates basic privacy laws (GDPR/PDPA). Do not trust this platform with your important work. They will lock you out and ignore you. I am currently filing a credit card chargeback and reporting them to privacy regulators.

Manus offers 3 pricing tiers, starting at $20/mo (Standard monthly usage) up to $200/mo (Extended usage for productivity). Agencies typically achieve 33% profit margins when reselling to clients.
No verified white-label program is documented in public materials. Client-facing surfaces display the Manus brand. Agencies should contact the sales team to confirm whether custom branding or agency-specific portals are available as part of a Team plan or custom agreement.
Yes. Manus has native integrations with both Shopify and Slack. The Shopify integration enables storefront building and product catalog management from natural language prompts. The Slack integration allows agencies to trigger workflows (research, design, email automation) directly from Slack without leaving the platform.
Setup time depends on the workflow complexity and client integrations required. Shopify storefront setup can be completed from a single prompt, while email automation and research workflows may require 15-30 minutes of configuration per client account. Onboarding documentation is available in the Manus help center.
Manus is designed for e-commerce agencies managing Shopify storefronts, digital marketing agencies conducting research and campaign planning, creative agencies producing slides and design assets, and SMB service businesses automating internal workflows like email and scheduling.
Manus offers a Team plan with multi-user access and API support for custom integrations. Multi-tenant account separation and per-client billing are not explicitly documented. Agencies should confirm account isolation and billing structure with the sales team before setting up client retainers.
Data ownership and export policies are not detailed in public documentation. Agencies should review the Terms of Service and confirm data retention and export procedures with Manus support before committing to client workflows.
